Three For………

Posted by danudin on January 31, 2010

Couldn’t resist the opportunity to post the backup shots for the themes for this month, now that the month is ended and the powers that be will eventually post another list. It has been so good to have a nice lazy January, Only 24  Themes photos posted, plus a few mini assignments, the Val Winter Shot challenge, a few help postings for thos suffering white-out, not to mention one important Public Notice.

I titled the first one masculine because that looked like hard Yakka, that the kayaker was involved in, and it was so hot that he had to be sweating, there-by Masculine! As even a Female out there then would be sweating, and Ladies Glow not sweat – MASCULINE, gender non specific. The second is yet another of my Rainbow Lorrikeets, but seeing him stretch for that blossom, would have taken a lot more balance than I have. Starting to come to grips with the 50mm prime lens as I used it to get that quick moving bird almost in focus, as well as for the next photo which shows something that didn’t move but maybe the title edible is a small stretch, it is a Succulent but I wouldn’t like to eat it!

Val’s Challenge Comfort Food

Posted by danudin on January 31, 2010

For once I am not stretching anything, this is comfort food for both Sally and I, when we first got Snow she weighed 2.1 Kilograms, and due to here illness couldn’t eat, anything that had more than a consistency of a thin broth, which she didn’t like. Changing to a good vet has helped her (and us), she is now a strapping 5.1 Kilograms, and has around 4-5 meals like this every day, until the cotyrzone injections effect wears off, I am afraid that she doesn’t have a long life ahead of her, but we always take agreat deal of comfort in seeing her hearty appetite, after the lean start she had, 29 days since her last injection, and I am hoping that her added weight, is giving her something to fall back on that she didn’t have when she was matchstick sized. Love our littke Fat Cat!

Public Service Announcement! WoW Spies Still Active.

Posted by danudin on January 30, 2010

For those of you new to this companya timely warning, came my way today. There are members of this group who constitute the Nucleus of a nefarious organization known world wide as, The Witches of Westwick, and hide under tne nom de plumes such as Syster Tammy, Syster Karen and I suspect Syster Boomer, although the jury is still out on that one. This group made it their business last year to make the life of at least one of your number a living Hell, Sending Bats, Cats, Rats, Pelicans and even pigeons to spy all across the world.

I had thought that they had scaled down thier operations, but I was wrong, all they had scaled down was the size of their spies. I caught this suspicious looking character lurking around my place today and in spite of intense questioning, he refused to divulge who his controllers or associates are! So just be warned the threat is still there,  they are still active you will be surprised at where these people can be found LOOK AT THIS, and don’t trust them.

Trio Revisited TWICE/THRICE!

Posted by danudin on January 30, 2010

Before anyone from the anti past photo brigade starts bashing on my door to drag me off to a Tar and feather Party, which I may deserve but don’t want to attend. These two photo’s were taken yesterday. I have submitted one or two other trios this year and one last year and this was the subject of last years photo, but the perspective is from the other end. Last year they had just started construction on a new bridge connecting Redcliffe to the rest of Brisbane. The old bridge is no longer safe for vehicular traffic but I see the occasional maintenance vehicle cross it. Primarily it is used by cyclists and fishermen (Sorry PC(People)), the last group are now up in arms over plans to pull down the best fishing platform on the Pine river as soon as the new bridge is commissioned. The construction has been completed and all that needs to be done is run power, security and safety fittings and then we will have two bridges, to drive on and no bridge to fish from – Progress Bah Humbug!

The second shot taken from higher up shows the past, present and future bridges disappearing south back to the place I took the first photo (2009) and all points South!

Val’s Winter Challenge – By the Fireplace

Posted by danudin on January 30, 2010

Admittedly it is outside, and admittedly that is sunshine, but take my word for it that is one toasty warm Snow! We all know how cats hog a fireplace on a cold night, why – to get Toasty Warm. If it had been cold and there was a fireplace handy – (We don’t need them here in Queensland) I am sure I could have shown Snow in almost the same pose. There it is Val, take it or leave it, but before you start screaming foul or theme stretch or some-such, remember the Sun IS the Biggest fireplace in this Solar system – Bar-None!

Bold Revisited + Processed

Posted by danudin on January 29, 2010

Out and about today, again trying to come to grips with my 50mm Prime Lens, saw this bike and thought straight off BOLD. We are learning, right so once I got it into the computer, I looked at it and cropped the original Photo to about 1 third of it’s original size, tried to work within the rule of thirds, as I thought the reflections in the shop window were more of an asset than a distraction. Quite happy with the result perse’.  I threw my mind back to the conditions down  near the bridge construction site where I snapped this, and though – It Was STINKING HOT, the original doesn’t really convey that so, I got out my artistic Licence, Tattered motheaten and mouldy as it is, and put it to work, I only used a few PSE effects but was really pleased with the result, after I removed the effect from around the bike and rider. To me it gives a feeling of heat haze and road fumes, What do you think?

Vals Challenge No#9 Mittens

Posted by danudin on January 29, 2010

When I posted yesterdays Snowboots photo, some of the rowdier members cast nasturtians in my direction, hinting that I was the type of individual who would intentionally smear a cats paws just for a shot. Hear is proof that she does her own Camouflage work. This series shows an area near our drive way where Snow often goes to change here persona into “Dusty Springfield” She often digs up the soil then rolls in it until she becomes an absolute GROT! this time it was a call of nature so I gave her, the privacy cats demand.

Mini Assignment Leading Line (Revisited)

Posted by danudin on January 28, 2010

Possibly not a good example of a leading line, but to me the path winding off into the bush is an obvios invitation to come and explore! My only question was how the Mosquitos were able to construct this track just to enable them to syphone off a pint or two of blood, from me?

The interesting angles, diffuse sunset qnd the texture of the main tree trubk make this photo worth publishing, on any event!

Repost of Bums on Bikes

Posted by danudin on January 27, 2010

When I last posted this it had a fairly positive reaction throughout the Photowalk, however there were a few comments on improving it, so I tried to  comply, I cropped it, I took away some of the rubbish out front and much to Sally’s bemusement the Postal Box on the right hand side, about which she said it’s there, why not show it! I also posted it on Elements Village as Self Explanatory, without any words to describe it (Can You Imagine)
